My dad was admitted to hospital on Friday due to an infection from a toe that was recently amputated. He has been diabetic for 20+ years. His kidneys are shutting down and when I came home to take a shower, we were given the choices to think about. Play the waiting game to try for angiogram tomorrow to open up the blood flow to the feet to get the antibiotics to try to heal and risk more damage to kidneys and permanent dialisis (sp? I am learning a lot of new medical stuff) and his life, or amputate at the knee today to try to save his kidney as much as possible (still high possibility of dialisis) and again his life. Please pray for our family as we make these decisions and our health along with the stress. And please pray that God's will is done with my dad and we are all able to accept it, no matter what is to come. There is no guarantee either way and we are all very scared!
